Glenn A. Girton

Glenn A. Girton, 92, of Zanesville, died at 3:55 P.M. Friday, January 1, 2016 at Genesis Hospital, Zanesville. He was born July 12, 1923, in Zanesville, a son of the late Clarence Andrew and Flora Viola Williams Girton. He retired from Rexnord, was a member of Cornerstone South Family Life Church, a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II where he was awarded the Purple Heart and was inducted into the Muskingum County Veterans Hall of Fame. Glenn also was a member of the VFW George Selsam Post 1058, American Legion and a volunteer at Genesis Hospital. Surviving are three daughters, Sheryle (Steve) Hallack of Zanesville, Sally (Steve) Williamson of Zanesville and Shelly K. Muir of Columbus; five grandchildren, Kelly Ogilbee, Kerri Hallack, Mandi (Joe) Hunt, Nicholas (Christina) Muir and Sarah Muir; four great grandchildren with one on the way; two sisters, Mary Drabik of McConnelsville and Alice Ribble of Zanesville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ava I. Girton, who died April 9, 1995; brothers, Art, Elmer, Walt, Harry, George and Clarence Girton and a sister Della Harlan. Friends and family may call from 6-8 on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE and one hour prior to the time of the funeral at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 7, 2016 with Pastor Steve Smith officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery beside his beloved wife Ava with full military honors being presented by the United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29.
