Grant E. Mcconnell

Grant E. McConnell, 80, of Zanesville, died at 7:13 P.M. Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born August 9, 1932, in Zanesville, a son of the late Clarence and Beulah Evans McConnell. Grant attended Licking View High School and graduated from Lash High School, and is a veteran of the United States Army. For many years, he worked as a Maintenance Supervisor at Burnham Boiler, Ohio Ferro Alloy Company, and he retired from Muskingum Iron and Metal. He is 50 year member of the Lodge of Amity #5 F&AM, an Ohio State fan, a West Muskingum fan and booster, and he loved to travel. He was also very active at the Senior Center and especially enjoyed square dancing. Surviving are his beloved wife of 53 years, Violet Simmons McConnell, whom he married on November 25, 1959; a daughter Vicki (Eric) Stuart of Muskegon, MI; two sons, William (Jane) Luzadder of Delaware, and Richard (Venita) Luzadder of Newark; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Ralph) Conrad, Virginia (Leonard) Mullenix, David Luzadder, Jessica (Kyle) Martincic, Jack Stuart, and Charlotte Stuart; four great grandchildren, Cory Conrad, Collin Conrad, Cate Conrad, and Ashlynn Luzadder; and several special cousins. Friends and family may call from 4:00-7:00 P.M. with Masonic services at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, February 8, 2013, at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at the funeral home with Rev. Kyle Martincic officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville, with full military honors being conducted by the United States Army in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post 1058.
