Gregory Alan "Greg" Welker, 56, of Zanesville, died at 4:28 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2010 at the Genesis Good Samaritan emergency room. He was born September 2, 1953, in Zanesville, a son of Donna M. Hoover Todd of South Zanesville and Wayne B. (Marylou) Welker of Hudson, Florida. He was a graduate of Maysville High School Class of 1971. Greg was the founder of A1 Heating, Cooling and Plumbing and co-founder of Welker and Welker Inc. He was the instructor for continuing education for state licensures in the mechanical field and held many licenses in the following areas - HVAC, Plumbing, Refrigeration, Boiler and Hydraulics. He attended Christ the King Catholic Parish. He loved to be outdoors, swinging in his swing, remodeling houses, Christmas time with his family, movies, spending time with his family and he liked to travel and vacations. Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife of 37 years, Debra K. Bateman Welker, whom he married February 24, 1973, of the home; a daughter, Aloni Ann Marie Welker of the home; two sons, Brad Jason (Barbie) Welker of Zanesville and Austin Connor Welker of the home; two sisters, Lori (Jeff) Johnson of Roseville and Wendy (Chris) Sheppard of Newport Richey, Florida; a brother, Scott (Erin) Welker of Nashport; a step-sister, Jeanann (Charlie) Dickerson of South Zanesville; a step-brother, Dr. James L. (Jayne) Todd of Dalton, Georgia; two beloved shih-tzu's, Milo and Dolly; many nieces and nephews; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Russ and Pat Bateman Sr. of Zanesville; and a brother-in-law, Russ Bateman Jr. of Zanesville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey Welker, who died in 1962; grandmother, Hazel Hoover; grandparents, Richard and Lera Welker; and his step-father, Bill Todd. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 and 2-4 & 6- 8 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 9, 2010 at the funeral home with Father Jonathan Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any Zanesville Century National Bank location for the college education for Aloni and Austin.
