Guthrie R. Starkey

Guthrie R. Starkey, 92, of Zanesville, died at 11:40 A.M. on Monday, June 10, 2013, at Autumn Healthcare. He was born March 29, 1921, in Marietta, a son of the late Samuel and Sylvia McElfresh Starkey. He worked for 31 years as a manager for Western Union, retired from Balderson Motors in the parts department, and was a member of Trinway United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife Fay Gorrell Starkey, whom he married May 23, 1964, of the home; three children, Phyllis Brown, Margaret (Edward) Owens, and Diana Starkey; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; two great great great grandchildren; two step-sons Randy (Debbie) Henderhan, and David (Cheryl) Henderhan; four step-grandchildren; and ten step-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Guthrie Starkey; and a brother Eugene Starkey. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, with Pastor Sharon Williamson officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.
