Harriet Jean Chambers, 88, of Zanesville, died on February 20 at Primrose Retirement Community. She was born May 21, 1923, in Columbus, to Doris Snyder and Orville Gibbons. She had lived in Zanesville since 1955, when she and her family moved from Columbus. She was a homemaker and had been an active volunteer at Immanuel United Church of Christ and at Bethesda Hospital. Harriet graduated from North High School in Columbus in 1941, and attended Bliss business school. She met and married Ken Chambers during WWII, a marriage that lasted until his death in 1980. They had two children, Gary and Dennis. In addition to her parents and husband, Harriet was preceded in death by her son Dennis and her brother Richard Gibbons. She is survived by her son Gary and daughter-in-law Paula Chambers of Studio City, California, Grandson Timothy Chambers and his wife, Sarah Ross Moore and great-granddaughter Luna Chambers of Charlottesville, Virginia, sister-in-law Ella Gibbons of Gahanna, niece Cindy Gibbons of Columbus, and a number of cousins. Friends and family may call from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 23 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio, 43701, with Pastor Mitch Reed officiating.
