Harry L. Best of 827 Talley Avenue, born May 11, 1910, died at the age of 97 of complications following a fall on the ice in February 2007. Born in Malta, OH, he graduated from M&M High School where he varsity lettered four years in basketball, baseball and football. He remained a life long sports fan and was a member of the Old Timers Association. He enjoyed many years of golf, competing in the senior league at Vista View golf course. He was a loyal ZHS basketball fan and was known to many as he sat at the far end of the gym always quick to praise coach Aronhault and all the players. He was also always down front and center at the Maysville High School games, never hesitating to give his opinion. He was a special fan of Tri Valley graduate, Trisha Smith and was eager to travel with her family to watch her play at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. He also never missed watching our local stars, Jay Payton and Kevin Martin on television. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Tull Best and Lilly Fall Best, his three sisters, Dama Nixon, Evelyn James and Kenyon Bone, and also our mother Garnet Allen Best and his second wife, Libby Woods Best. He will be forever missed and loved by his family, son, Roger Best of Martins Ferry, and daughter, Molly Best Anderson of Zanesville. He had four grandchildren, Scott and Brian Best, Shane Anderson and Garnet (Valley) Anderson. He had three great grandchildren, Andee Anderson, Cameron Best and Lindsey Best. He was supported by many long time friends including Tammy and the girls at Aldis and the girls at south McDonalds. Many thanks to the Muskingum County Home and Hospice for all their support. Friends may call from 2-4 & 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at the funeral home with Mr. Aaron Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery, Portersville.
