Harry M. Smith Jr., 83, of Zanesville, died Sunday, January 10, 2016, at his home. He was born March 31, 1932, in Hopewell Township, a son of the late Harry M. Sr. and Hazel Leslie Smith. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, worked as an oil well driller, and was a member of the VFW, Eagles, and the American Legion. He is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Dennis and Martha (Gerald) Wortman, all of Zanesville; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Carmen Haug Smith, who died May 31, 2005; a sister Lala Bryan; and brothers-in-law Donald Bryan and Lynn B. Dennis Sr. Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, and one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 14, 2016, with Mr. Chris Steele officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Carmen at Greenwood Cemetery, Zanesville, with military honors presented by the United States Army in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post #1058 and the American Legion Post #29.
