Hazel L. (Newsom) Bauer

December 7, 1918 — August 14, 2014

Hazel L. Bauer, 95, of Zanesville, died at 11:20 A.M. on Thursday, August 14, 2014, at the Cedar Hill Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 7, 1918, in Muskingum County, a daughter of the late Alfred E. an Ethel B. Cannon Newsom. She was a Gray Lady for 10 years at the Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, and she was often referred to as the "Cookie Lady" at Vacation Bible School. Surviving are two sons, Earl D. (Tish) Bauer and John W. Bauer, all of Zanesville; a daughter Roberta M. (Larry Sr.) Lenhart of Zanesville; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; a sister Blanche E. Dady of Zanesville; and a sister-in-law Martha (John) Kilakowske of Walton, KY. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Earl G. Bauer, who died June 6, 1997; five brothers, Harry, Homer, Lee, Ralph, and Lawrence Newsom; and four sisters, Erma Murphy, Helen McKinley, Esther Kinney, and Thelma Baughman. Friends and family may call from 4:00-6:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 17, 2014, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, August 18, 2014, with Pastor Pat Wiseman-Jones officiating. She will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery, Zanesville.
