Hazel M. Kirkendall, 83, of Zanesville, died at 2:11 p.m. Monday, November 2, 2009 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born August 21, 1926, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Charles LeRoy and Edith Boetcher Kovaleski. She and her husband, Joseph, had owned and operated the Kirkendall's Greenhouse, which started in 1975, and she was a realtor for Dunzweiler/Coldwell Banker Realty. She was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church. Surviving are four sons, Joseph P. (Rosemary) Kirkendall Jr. of Peyton, Colorado, Richard T. (Carolyn Robison) Kirkendall of Zanesville, Daniel H. (Katrina) Kirkendall of Keller, Texas and David (Lori) Kirkendall of Zanesville; 9 grandchildren, Joe (Erica) Kirkendall, Brian Kirkendall, Jennifer (Anthony) Maples, Jeremy (Catherine) Kirkendall, Janet (Joseph) Guziak, Alethea Longwell, Angie Kirkendall, Arika Kirkendall and Kelly Kirkendall; and 4 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P. Kirkendall Sr., whom she married August 10, 1946 and who died October 18, 2001; and two sisters, Edith McCloud and Erma Lee. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009 at the St. Thomas Catholic Church, 144 N 5th St., Zanesville with Father Jordan Turano, O.P. as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
