Heather Hamilton Mock

Heather Hamilton Mock, 46, of Zanesville, died at 2:00 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2009 at her residence after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born December 18, 1962, in Butler, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Hal and Judith Lonas Hamilton. Heather was instrumental in creating families in Muskingum County. She was an Adoption Coordinator at Muskingum County Children Services, where she helped support families for 22 years. During this time she finalized over 175 adoptions. Due to her commitment to the children and families of Muskingum County she was presented the "Angels in Adoption" Award by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption in 2001 in Washington, D.C. All members of the U.S. Congress were there to honor her good work which has enriched the lives of children available for adoption. Heather will be greatly missed by the children and families whose lives she has changed. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was an active volunteer at Westview Elementary. She was a wonderful wife, mother and her children meant everything to her. Surviving are her husband of 22 years, Gregory C. Mock, whom she married August 23, 1986, of the home; her three loving children, daughters, Alexandria and Marissa Mock and son, Johnathon Mock, all of the home; a sister, Beth (Jack) Brown of Zanesville; and a brother, Hal (Paula) Hamilton of Lewis Center, Ohio; a niece and nephew, Kristen and Adam Brown and many other special nieces and nephews. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville and one hour prior to services. Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Patton officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
