Helen L. Bruns Eversberg, 83, of Zanesville, died at 12:37 A.M. on Sunday, August 30, 2015, at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House, surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 6, 1931, in Athens, Ohio, a daughter of the late Frank and Elsie McNeal Murphy. Helen graduated in 1949 from Athens High School in Athens, Ohio. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Ohio University and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Sorority. After moving to Zanesville in 1957, Helen became a teacher for the Zanesville City Schools. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Edwin Markham Child Conservation League, Y-City Women's Club, Retired Teachers of Muskingum County, and District Manager of World Book. Helen enjoyed her card club of many years who became her most cherished friends. Volunteering for the Life Will Free Store on Putnam Avenue became another source of enjoyment as she became friends with a group of very special compassionate members of the First United Methodist Church. Other interests of Helen's included: reading, golf, sharing events with principal Jean Glenn and Staff from Munson School, an avid sports fan of Ohio State and attending all activities of her beloved six grandchildren. Surviving are her children, son Ernest "Ernie" (Denise) Bruns of Zanesville and daughter, Amy (Richard "Rick") Girardot of Westchester; six grandchildren, Corey Bruns, Kyle (Renee) Bruns, Karly Bruns, Mike (Kasey) Girardot, John Girardot, Mattina Girardot; sisters Garnet Engle and Mary Morgan; brother Frank Murphy; brothers-in-law Bill Herron and Gene Engle; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Berlin E. Bruns in 1998; second husband Donald A. Eversberg who died in 2013; a sister Ann Herron; a brother John "Jack" Murphy; sister-in-law Verdene Murphy; brothers-in-law Russ Wallar and Roger Morgan; and a nephew Gary Coffman. In keeping with Helen's wishes, no calling hours will be observed. She will be cremated and her remains will be interred at the Garden Of Faith, Zanesville Memorial park Cemetery, Zanesville.
