Helen R. Hammer, 85, of Zanesville died at 9:12 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at Willow Haven Care Center. She was born March 6, 1920 in Newark, a daughter of the late William C. & Opal I. Vinson Tanner. She was a homemaker, a member of Faith United Methodist Church and a World War II Navy Veteran. Surviving are a daughter, Cheri Fink of Zanesville, two sons, Fred ( Marjeane) Hammer of Blue Rock and Chuck ( Sally) Hammer of Zanesville, three grandchildren, Brandy R. Hiles and Amy Kendall both of Zanesville and Scott Hammer of Blue Rock, two ste- grandchildren, Julie ( Jim ) Brown and Jeff (Debbie) Fink both of Zanesville,four great grandchildren, Kyle Ford, Kaiti Hiles, Shae Kendall and Jenna Kendall, four step great grandchildren and her beloved dog, Lily. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul F. Hammer, who died November 11, 1974, two sisters, Gloria Trout and Frances Tanner, three brothers, Eugene, Sonny, and Bill Tanner and a son-in-law, Gale Fink. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2005 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 21, 2005 at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.
