Henry E. Shirkey, 78, of Zanesville, died at 7:51 P.M. on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Genesis Hospital Emergency Room, Zanesville. He was born December 15, 1945, in Crooksville, son of the late Clifford and Mayme (Dennis) Shirkey Sr. Henry was a veteran of the United States Army, a past President and member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He worked as a machinist for the City of Columbus, enjoyed fishing, hunting, OSU football, The Cincinnati Bengals and NASCAR especially #28 Davey Allison. Henry adored spending time with his grandchildren and his furry friend dog, Tippy.
He is survived by two daughters, Crystal Shirkey and Tami (Gene) Liff; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a sister, Joan Longendyke and a special niece, Jennie (Steve) Shirkey.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of over forty years, Betty L. (Atkins) Shirkey, who passed April 8, 2017; four brothers, Terry Shirkey Sr., Bill Shirkey, Clifford Shirkey Jr., and Ernie Shirkey; a sister, Margaret Cavinee; a nephew, Terry Shirkey Jr; Wayne Shirkey; Dickie Smith; and special friend, Mike Hill.
Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 04, 2024, at the BOLINDIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE where an Eagles Memorial Ceremony will be held at 5:45 P.M. followed by full Military honors to be accorded to him by the United States Army in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29 Color Guard.
