Hugh Kenneth Mallett, 90, of Zanesville, passed away at 12:12 A.M. on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at The Oaks of Bethesda, Zanesville after many months of illness. He was born September 11, 1927 the first of four children in Muskingum County, a son of the late Hugh Orlando and Hallie Fink Mallet. He graduated Wellsville high school at sixteen and joined the Army Air Corp being sent to West Virginia Wesleyan University for training. He then went to Wright field to work on B-17's and later was sent to Los Alamos. After leaving the military, he went to Muskingum University prior to beginning his private life. Hugh retired from the City of Zanesville Code Enforcement. He is survived by his children, John Eric Mallett and Andrea Perry; was the proud grandparent to Adrianne Hehemann, Deanna Perry, and Christopher and Mark Mallett; proud great-grandparent to Halle and Hayden Hehemann, Christopher James, Anna Bella, Hailey Maria, and Alex Steven Joseph; and a sister, Eleanor McIntyre. A Cremation-With-Care will take place and a Graveside service to be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Poplar Fork Cemetery, Gratiot. Full Military Honor will be accorded to him by the United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29.
