Ione B. Supplee, 88, of Zanesville died at 2:00 a.m. Sunday, January 16, 2005 at the Helen Purcell Home. She was born October 30, 1916 near Adamsville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Jesse E. & Mae Stewart Bradford. She was educated in the elementary schools of Adams and Salem Townships, graduated from Adamsville High School in 1934 and the Cameo School of Cosmetology in 1935. She was married to the late Lloyd H. Supplee for 52 years and was active in the services and projects of the local Letter Carrier's Ladies Auxiliary. For a number of years she served as director of music for the Highland Community Presbyterian Church before it merged with other churches in 1980. She helped establish the Muskingum County Genealogical Library, and served as its director and purchasing agent for many years. As a genealogist and historian, she has written several church, school, township and family histories, as well as having conducted research seminars for school children, scouts, and 4-H clubs. Copies of her many writings are on file with the McIntire Library. Ione was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, the Muskingum County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society, First Families of Muskingum County, Adamsville Alumni Association and a past member of the Daughters of American Revolution. She is survived by a daughter, Sherrie ( Donald ) Brubaker of Columbus, Ohio, a nephew, David E. Bradford of Newark and a niece, Rita ( Rodger ) Baker of Adamsville. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Supplee, who died March 6, 1989, two brothers, Clell & Carl Bradford Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Janaury 20, 2005 in New Hope Lutheran Cemetery, outside of Adamsville, Ohio with Rev. Ray C. Morrison, Jr. officiating. A celebration of Ione's life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 23, 2005 at Central Presbyterian Church, 40 North 6th Street, Zanesville with Rev. Ray C. Morrison officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the social hall. In Lieu of flowers, Memorial gifts in Ione's honor may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
