Ira Md. Cimons

Ira M. Cimons M.D., 77, of Freeport, died at 8:45 a.m. at Genesis Extended Care and Rehabilitation Center, Zanesville. He was born March 31, 1931 in Yonkers, NY, a son of the late Bernard and Clara Bromberg Cimons. He was Jewish by faith. Dr. Cimons graduated from Cornell University with a BA and received his medical degree from the University of Fribourg, Fribourg, Switzerland, served his internship at Meadowbrook Hospital in East Meadow, NY., did his residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, New York, NY and served a fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA. He had several teaching appointments, University of Pittsburgh and Cornell University Medical Center. Dr. Cimons served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Surviving are his loving wife, Donna B. Cimons, whom he married August 21, 1965, a daughter, Elisa Marlene Cimons of Cambridge, Ohio; a brother, Perry (Marilyn) Cimons of Yonkers, NY.; a sister, Marlene Cimons of Bethesda, Maryland, And many nieces and nephews. No calling hours or services will be held. Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio , entrusted with all arrangements.
