Ira (Chet) Davis

Ira Chester (Chet) Davis, 96, of Zanesville died at 3:08 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2005 at Adams Lane Care Center. He was born February 22, 1909 at Athens Co., Ohio a son of the late Evan R. & Etta May Conaway Davis. He retired from Ohio Machinery Co. after 35 years of service, was a member of the Christian Church at Taylor Ridge, Ohio, former member of Zanesville Country Club, member of Lodge of Amity # 5 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge, Zavi Shrine Club, charter member of the Morgan Shrine Club, member of Aladdin Shrine of Columbus and a life member of Athens Elks Club and Chet served three years in the Corp of Engineers. Surviving are several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Evelyn G. Allton Davis, two brothers, Bill Davis and Raymond Davis and a sister, Doris E. Dietrick. Friends may call from 11a.m. till service time Monday, March 28, 2005 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Dawn Remster officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.
