Irene D. Arbaugh, 86, of Zanesville died Monday, January 31, 2005 at Cedar Hill Care Center. She was born December 1, 1918 in Akron, a daughter of the late Michael and Mollie Bazany Benik. She was a Zanesville resident since 1967, had worked at Firestone and Goodrich during the war, and then as a waitress. She was an excellent bowler and a long-time member of several leagues. In Zanesville she volunteered as a Gray Lady at Bethesda Hospital, was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a member of the Owls Circle. She and her husband Joe, enjoyed attending 8th Air Force reunions all over the country and England. Surviving are a daughter, Deanna (Lawrence Parker) Brooks of Concord, MA., a step-son, Ronald "Joe" (Charlene) Arbaugh of Mantua, Ohio , a brother, Mike Benik of Homosassa Springs, Fl., four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a niece, Kay Arbaugh of Zanesville. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald "Joe" Arbaugh in May 1993 and a son Walter Brooks who died in 1974. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2005 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2005 at the funeral home with Rev. Jim Sands officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.
