Irvin L. Fitzer

Irvin L. "Irv" Fitzer, of Zanesville, died at 4:15 A.M. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at his home. He was born September 28, 1926 in Columbus, a son of the late Henry and Myrtle Ingraham Fitzer. Mr. Fitzer lived to enjoy life at home; his family, daughter, sons and grandsons. Irvin worked for 43 years for J.C. Penney as a display manager-taking only one sick day in all those years. He was an accomplished artist, preferring whimsical cartoons in pen and ink. Irvin loved to garden and loved to provide fresh produce to friends and family. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Basketball fan. Irv. was a World War II Army Veteran. Surviving are his wife, Jane Scott Fitzer of the home; two sons, Herb Fitzer and Greg (Anita) Fitzer all of Zanesville; three grandchildren, Brian Joseph, Brad Joseph and Alan Fitzer all of Zanesville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Patty Joseph and two brothers, Albert Fitzer and John Fitzer. Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Monday, July 28, 2014 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 29, 2014. He will be laid to rest at Williams Cemetery, Zanesville with military honors being provided by the VFW George Selsam Post 1058.
