Jackie Buxton, 90, of Zanesville, died at 6:08 A.M. on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House, Zanesville. He was born December 27, 1930, in Pataskala, to the late James A. and Clara (Compton) Buxton. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict and retired as a Metallurgist with the Burnham Boiler Corporation after forty-seven years. He was a member of the VFW George Selsam Post 1058, Eagles Lodge 302, and enjoyed playing cards, mowing his grass, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by three daughters, Debra (Tom) Moore, Pamala Rutledge, and Vickie Erichsen; a son, Bob (Ellen) Kirkbride; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Babe Wilkie; and special friends, John Tatman, Roger Hosey, and Dr. Jim Booth.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Howerton Buxton whom he married July 4, 1952 and died September 13, 2010; a brother, James Buxton; three sisters, Onda Rapol, Mary Kathryn Lynn, and Dorothy Ann Miller; and a son-in-law, Craig Rutledge.
Friends and family may call from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville, with Tom Moore and Rev. Steve Harrop officiating.
