James David Beckert, Sr.

James David Beckert Sr., 66, of South Zanesville, died at 4:45 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2006 at the Cedar Hill Care Center. He was born April 12, 1939 in Zanesville, the son of the late Francis W. And Emma Virginia Chapman Beckert. Jim retired in 1999 from the Village of South Zanesville as a water meter reader. He was a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge # 302, an U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 29. Mr. Beckert was a life member of the NRA and an avid trap shooter. Surviving are his wife, Elnora (Ellie) L. Landes Beckert, whom he married May 16, 1965 of the home, a daughter, Debra L. B. (Brian) Cotter of Middletown, a son, James D. (Tammy) Beckert Jr., of Grand Rapids MI., a brother F. Richard (Nancy Ann) Beckert of Cadiz, grandchildren, Jovian James Beckert Cotter, James Curtis Beckert and Jessica Ann Beckert, and soon to be born Aedyn Thomas Beckert Cotter and Jeremy Lyle Beckert. Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2006 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave. Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2006 at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Richard Boyer officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Park. VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will hold military services at the gravesite.
