James Robert (Bob) Brill, 71, of Chandlersville, died at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at Grant Hospital in Columbus as a result of a fall at his home. He was born March 4, 1936, in Muskingum County, a son of the late Herbert R. and Ida A. Moore Brill. James was a graduate of Chandlersville High School Class of 1954. He retired after 30 years of service from General Electric in New Concord and was previously employed by Rittberger Brothers and Baker Brothers Wholesale Grocers. Bob was a well known sheep breeder for over 50 years and had exhibited cattle and sheep at the Muskingum County Fair for 58 consecutive years. He was a 51 year member of the American Suffolk Sheep Association and a 20 year member of the Continental Dorset Club as well as the State Breed Associations. He was a longtime member of the Ohio Sheep Improvement Association and a member and past president of the Muskingum County Sheep Association. He was a 50 year member of Central Presbyterian Church and longtime member of the Muskingum County Farm Bureau. Surviving are his wife, Fannie B. Bell Brill, whom he married November 9, 1958, of the home; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Melvin Baughman of Mount Vernon; sister-in-law, Kathleen Brill of Chandlersville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pat and Dick Humphrey of Nellysford, VA.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim and Bernice Bell of Zanesville and Dick and Nancy Bell of Las Alamos, New Mexico and many loved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins; special friends and "shepherds", Kirsten, Jason, Shelby and Hainsley Hatfield and Bill Sass. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Eugene Brill; a nephew, Rex Brill and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Katherine and Edwin Bell. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2007 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville and one hour prior to services. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at Central Presbyterian Church, 40 N 6th St., Zanesville with Rev. Ray C. Morrison Jr. officiating.
