James Herbert "Herb" Buchanan, 93, of Zanesville, died peacefully at 9:00 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2011 at the Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born November 28, 1917, in Chandlersville, Ohio, a son of the late Perl P. and Fern Taylor Buchanan. He retired in 1981 from Kerr Glass. James was a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran serving in World War II. Surviving are a daughter, Janet (Richard) Lee of Takoma Park, MD; a son, Roger (Diane Waller) Buchanan of Madison, WI., four brothers, Charles Kenneth (Lois) Buchanan of Chandlersville, Joseph D. (Nancy) Buchanan of Norwich, Gene P. (Inabelle) Buchanan and George A. (Clare) Buchanan, both of Zanesville; and three grandchildren, Jesse Charles (Namrita Chaudhary) Lee, Samantha Ann Lee and Ian Phillip Buchanan. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eligene Dickson Buchanan, whom he married October 21, 1945 and who died April 7, 2004; a daughter, Elaine Sue Buchanan; a sister, Edith Farus; and a brother, Dayle Buchanan. Friends and family will gather from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011 when a time of sharing and remembrance will take place at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. He will be buried beside his beloved wife, Eligene, at Zanesville Memorial Park.
