James J. Hendershot, 90, of Zanesville died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at the Muskingum County Home. He was born January 28, 1918 in Paden City, West Virginia, a son of the late Joseph and Ethel B.Cook Hendershot. He retired as a Driller in the Oil Fields. James was a World War II Army Veteran, was a member of Eagles # 302 and had worked for Shawnee Pottery. Surviving are three daughters, Carolyn ( John ) Lent and Frances ( Bill) Lent and Candy ( Dick ) Schmidt all of Zanesville; two sons, Jim Ray ( Pat) Hendershot of Zanesville and Jerry ( Brenda ) Hendershot of Dresden, 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Verna Stedman Hendershot, who died in 1993, a daughter, Deborah Tubbs who died in 2002, a sister Mary Bolen, a grandson, John Lent Jr. and a great granddaughter, Hope Hendershot. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at the funeral home with Rev. Reginald Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park. Full military honors will be provided by the United States Army with the assistance of the VFW George Selsam Post 1058.
