James "Jim" James, 68, of Zanesville, died at 11:50 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2008 at the Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born January 16, 1940, in Zanesville, a son of the late Carl and Dorothy Kirk James. He retired after 27 years of service as a maintenance worker from American Electric Power. He had served in the National Guard and enjoyed traveling and camping. Surviving are his wife, Sandra K. Middleton James, whom he married January 16, 1960, of the home; a daughter, Joni (Harry) Howard of Zanesville; two sons, Jeffery (Jenna) James of Norwich and Jerry (Kimberley) James of Zanesville; 5 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; a step great-grandchild; a brother, Donald (Anita) James of Youngsville, North Carolina; three sisters, Carleen (Bob) Burwell, Rita (Mike) Zigler and Mary Jo Emory, all of Zanesville; several nieces, nephews and cousins and a special friend, Pat Wheeler of Zanesville. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary James; a sister, Beverly and two grandchildren, Jessica and Jade Howard. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville and one hour prior to services. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008 at the funeral home with the Rev. Anita James officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Township Baptist Cemetery.
