James R. "Jim" Kessler, 82, of Zanesville, died at 5:25 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2008 at the Genesis Hospice- Morrison House. He was born July 23, 1925 in Zanesville, the son of the late Charles (Candy) and Sadie Carter Kessler. Jim was a sales person in the petroleum industry. He was a member of the St Thomas Catholic Church, an army veteran of World War II, a charter member of the Falls Twp. Volunteer Fire Department and was an active worker at the Father's Day Chicken Barbecue, a lifetime member of Fraternal Order of Police Associates (FOPA), a member of the NRA and was an avid hunter. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Miller Kessler , whom he married April 22, 1944, of the home; four daughters, Susie ( Lee) Higgins of May's Lick Ky., Sandy (Bernie) Gibson of Zanesville, Cindy (Charlie) McCloud of Zanesville and Connie (Mark) Micheli of Cleveland; two half sisters, Patty (Cecil) Yonley and Norma Polk both of Zanesville; grandchildren, Julie Ludick, Krista Coleman, Rachelle Brown, Jarred Miracle, Carrie Mulligan, Corisa Vejsicky, Cayla Conley, Slade Jesse, Brooke Jesse, and Joel Jesse. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Katsampes and Betty Iden. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2008 at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Harrop and a Dominican Father officiating. Burial will follow at Williams Cemetery near Zanesville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Falls Twp.
