James L. Larsen, 73, of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away April 24, 2007 at his residence. He was born April 9, 1934, in Marion, OH. Jim was the loving husband of Nancy. A 1956 Graduate of The Ohio State University, Jim retired from a career in the US Naval Aviation in 1977. CDR Larsen was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in the Republic of Viet Nam in 1968. He went on to earn a Masters in Finance from George Washington University and his CPA. Jim, a charter member of Kempsville Presbyterian Church, gratefully served there in numerous capacities throughout his life. He is survived by his daughter, Rev. Stephanie Black (wife of Rev. William Black of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia) and their children, Linnea and Caroline; his son, Douglas Larsen (husband of Amy Larsen, Assistant Principal, Monte Clair Elementary) of Gainesville, VA and their children, Jessica, James, Christina and Mary. There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at Kempsville Presbyterian Church. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2007 at Zanesville Memorial Park. Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville are entrusted with all arrangements.
