James D. Maxwell, 91, of Zanesville, went to be with the Lord at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. He was born December 10, 1922, in Zanesville, a son of the late Daniel and Tina Howell Maxwell. He retired after 46 years of service as a Night Superintendant at Burnham Corporation. He was a World War II Army Veteran, member of American Legion Post #29, and attended Coburn United Methodist Church. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved to work in his garden. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Ella L. Mauller Maxwell, whom he married July 5, 1944, of the home; a daughter Theresa (Chuck) Gainer of Brockway, PA; a grandson Anthony Scott Gainer of Cleveland; two great grandsons, Cody Alan Moore and Alexander Maxwell Gainer; a brother Rolland (Patsy) Maxwell of Zanesville; two sisters, Evelyn Leach and Marilyn Humphery, both of Zanesville; a sister-in-law Hazel Corder of McConnellsville; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Judith Eileen Maxwell; a son James Rick Maxwell; a granddaughter Renae Moore; five brothers, Wilbur, Donald, Russell, Bill, and Bernard; and three sisters, Louise Makin, Mildred Swartzmiller, and Ruth Schutz. No calling hours will be observed. A dignified cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE.
