James L. Mcdonald

James L. McDonald, 81, of Zanesville, died at 11:50 P.M. on Friday, July 11, 2014, at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. He was born June 2, 1933, in Decatur, Alabama, a son of the late Charles and Daisy Sparkman Brock. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, CO E (Bridge) 23rd Engineer BN (Army Div) APO 165, had been an Electrical Salesman for The Roekel Co for 34 years, and after his retirement from The Roekel Co he worked with his son at the McDonald Greenhouse. James was a member of the Central Trinity United Methodist Church, the Pairs & Spares Sunday School Class, a Past Master and member of the Gage & Gavel Masonic Lodge #1048, Order of the Eastern Star Olive Branch Chapter #251 at Duncan Falls member, twice served as Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #52 of Zanesville, Muskingum County Farm Bureau member, a past 4-H Club Leader, and coached youth softball teams. Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane Sellers McDonald, whom he married August 27, 1955; son Aaron J. (Brandee) McDonald of Gahanna, and their children Lexee McDonald and Logan McDonald; son James A. (Susan) McDonald of Zanesville, and their children Jack McDonald and Eli McDonald; and cousins Patty Tysinger, Sandy Thompson, Beverly Savage, Myrna Church, and Marjorie Huffman. Pallbearers will be Victor W. Sellers, John W. Sellers, Roger Lutz, Jerry Angelo, Ray Sims, and sons Aaron McDonald and James McDonald. Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 P.M. & 6:00-8:00 P.M. , with Masonic services at 5:30 P.M. on Monday, July 14, 2014, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, with Rev. Tom England & Pastor Paul Thomas officiating. He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery, Sonora, with military honors being presented by VFW George Selsam Post #1058. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Trinity United Methodist Church: 62 South 7th Street, Zanesville, Ohio 43701; or to Christ Table: 28 South 6th Street, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
