James M. Mesaros

James "Slim Jim" M. Mesaros, 70, of Zanesville, went to be with the Lord at 5:45 P.M. Sunday, June 24, 2018 with his family by his side. He was born April 7, 1948 in Nelsonville, a son of the late Joseph and Beatrice Cobb Mesaros. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in Vietnam, a retired bartender for the VFW and had worked at Ohio Ferro Alloys and K-Mart. James was a member of North Terrace Church of Christ, a life member of VFW George Selsam Post 1058/Cootie where he had been the Post Commander twice and Commander for the firing squad, the American Legion Post 29, the Eagles, LaFayette Lodge #79 F&AM, and the Valley of Cambridge Scottish Rite and the Muskingum Recreational Center. James enjoyed the sporting events of his grandchildren, spending time with his family, and his cat Lizzy. Surviving are his wife, Christine Vandenbark Mesaros, whom he married January 14, 1968; two daughters, Sue (Brent) Grissett and Sherry (Scott) Long; five grandchildren, Dylan Hamilton, Seth Grissett, Kaleb Long, Kristofor Mesaros, and Karlee Mesaros; and a brother, Joe (Kathy) Mesaros. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Ann Mesaros; and two sisters, Grace Miller and Pat Toliver. Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Friday, June 29, 2018 at North Terrace Church of Christ, 1590 Brandywine Blvd, Zanesville with Masonic Services to be held at 7:45 P.M. by LaFayette Lodge #79 F&AM. Friends and family may also call one hour prior to funeral services which will be held at noon on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the church with Mr. William L. Meaige officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville. BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE entrusted with all arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Muskingum County Community Foundation for Julie Mesaros Endowment, 534 Putnam Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
