James T. Nessline, 88, of Zanesville, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022, following a brief illness. Many will remember Jim from Tom’s Ice Cream Bowl where he spent 19 years greeting customers as manager, but more importantly where he met the love of his life, “Sweet Alice.” The next 25 years of his career was spent with United Technologies.
Born October 24, 1933, Jim is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice Barker Nessline, son Greg (Anita) Nessline and daughter Jeniffer (Ron) Davis, grandchildren Addie (Justin) Shamblin, Alana Nessline, Elise Davis and Regan Davis.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. and Margaret Goodwin Nessline, stepmother Margaret Ellis Nessline and grandson Miles Thomas Nessline.
Throughout his life, when not working, he could most likely be found captaining boats, piloting planes, or driving a Top-Flite down a fairway.
We will miss his quick wit and sense of humor. May he be enjoying a glass of scotch with a fine cigar and asking those around, “Isn’t this the cat’s meow?” May it be “Just like downtown.”
