James Benjamin (Ben) Price, passed away on January 23, 2025, while in the care of the Astoria Place in Cambridge, Ohio. He was born on March 21, 1945, at St. Francis Hospital in Cambridge, Ohio, a son to Julia Belle (McBride) Price and James Edward Price. He served in the United States Army at the Cleveland Army Air Defense in the early sixties. Ben was a lifelong mechanic, having worked for Ford Motor & Storage and also Motrim Inc. of Cambridge. He opened his own garage, Price Motor Service, in 1980, which he ran for 20 years. In later years he taught himself woodworking and made many beautiful pieces of furniture, most of which he gave away.
He is survived by his wife, Martha (Scott) Price, whom he married in 1963; daughters Shirley Barkley of New Concord, Bev (Mike) Reese of New Philadelphia and son Ben (Rosa) Price, also of Cambridge; twelve grandchildren, Andy Barkley, Shane Barkley, Becky Redrup, Nikki Cook, Jesse Bennett, Candace Bennett, Lauren Bennett, James Curtis, Brandon Curtis, Kendra Colvin, Steven Price and Diana Price; as well as several great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marigold Marsh, Evelyn Tysinger, and Julia McGath; and one brother, Joseph (Mary Ann) Price.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as three brothers, Tim Price, Robert Price and Cullin Price; and a son-in-law, Tim Barkley.
It was Ben’s wish to be cremated. A cremation will take place under the direction of the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE ZANESVILLE.
A burial will take place at a later date in Clear Fork Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Guernsey County Veterans Council or Hospice of Guernsey County.
