James C.L. Taylor, 88, of Springfield, went to be with his Lord & Savior at 4:15 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2006 at the Oakwood Village Nursing Home, Springfield ,Ohio. He was born November 7, 1917 in Matoaka, WV., the son of the late George Wilburn and Mary Magedaline Shelton Taylor. James was a retired Steam Fitter employed by the Plummer and Steam Fitters Local 50. He also was an Amateur Radio Operator (call # N4TGU.) Surviving his wife, Naomi Goff Merriam Taylor of Springfield (Married 5/21/1967), one daughter Rebecca (Larry) Updyke of Springfield, three sons, Dr. Robert Merriam of Waterford, CA., Larry (Kaye) Merriam of Oklahoma City, OK., and Richard (Susan) Merriam of McDonough, GA., two sisters, Ann Goff of Zanesville and Zelda Taylor of San Jose, CA., a brother, Earl Taylor of Zanesville, eight grandchildren, Tiffiany Zaborowski ,Renee Taylor, Jonathan and Brian Updyke, Michael, Christopher ,Jennifer Merriam, and Lara Merriam-Smith and eight great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, James K.W. Taylor and Eugene Taylor and three brothers, Burl, William and Clarence Taylor. Friends may call 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave. Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2006 at the funeral home with the Rev. Dean Cole officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.
