James E. Tunis, age 80, of Zanesville, Ohio, died at 4:19 p.m . Saturday, April 2, 2005 at the Genesis Bethesda Hospital. He was born August 7th, 1924 in Zanesville, the son of the late Benjamin H. And Lyda Tanner Tunis. Mr. Tunis was a retired farmer, a member of Farm Bureau, a Past Master of Irville Masonic Lodge # 184 F & AM and all masonic bodies, a member of Richvale Grange and attended the Immanuel United Church of Christ. The Tunis family farm was designated as an Ohio Century farm by the Ohio Farm Bureau. The Columbus Dispatch also honored the Jim Tunis Family as the Muskingum County Farm Family of the Year. The Ohio Department of Agriculture recognized the Tunis Farm as the Ohio Outstanding Century Farm, Southeast Region. Jim was a member of the First Family in Muskingum County and also a member of the Muskingum County Genealogy Society. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy E. Winters Tunis (Married 10/17/1948) of the home, two daughters, Judith E. Morgan and Susan E. (Richard) Bunner , both of Zanesville, three grandchildren, Brent A. Morgan of Waldorf Md., Ryan S. Morgan and Jared M. Hindel, both of Zanesville. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Robert B. Tunis and a grand son Bryan James Hindel. Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, April 5th, 2005 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at the funeral home with the Rev. Sam Greening officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel United Church of Christ. Irville Masonic Lodge # 184 F & AM will hold services at the funeral home 6:00 pm Tuesday.
