Jane Elizabeth Ross, 79, of Rockford, Illinois died on February 21, 2006 at Provena St. Anne Center, in Rockford, Illinois after a long illness. Jane was born July 12, 1926. She was the daughter of Chester and Margaret Covert of Zanesville, Ohio. She married Ray Edwin Ross on December 31, 1944. They lived most of their lives in Zanesville where Jane owned and operated a beauty shop. They moved to Bellville, Ohio in 1971 where they owned Bellville Hardware and Ross Department Store until Ray's death in 1984. While in Bellville, they were members of Chapel Hill Methodist Church and enjoyed square dancing with their friends. Jane moved to Rockford in 2000, to be close to family and she resided in Provena St. Ann Center until her death. Her husband, Ray, her parents, her brother-in-law, Robert Householder and her sister-in-law, Gertrude Covert, precedes her in death. Jane is survived by her two daughters, Linda (Richard) Crooks, of Loves Park, IL and Ellen Oliver, of Rockford, IL., three grandchildren, Kelly Champion of Haltom City, TX., Molly Crooks of Loves Park, IL., and Chad (Jennifer) Oliver of Carbondale, IL., three great grandchildren, Zachary Champion of Winnebago, IL., Elijah James Oliver and Joseph Ross Oliver both of Carbondale,IL, her sister, Vivian Householder and her brother, Dr. Joseph Covert, both of Zanesville, OH. and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2006 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, OH. where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2006 with Rev. Doris Flynn officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Zanesville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Northern Illinois Hospice and Grief Counseling Center or to the Provena St. Anne Center.
