Janet Mae Scheffler, 89, of Zanesville went to be with her Lord and Savior, November 07, 2022 at the Genesis Hospice-Morrison House, Zanesville. She was born October 17, 1933, Zanesville to Carl and Iola (Crawford) Scheffler.
Janet was a lifelong resident of Zanesville, she was a waitress at the old Holiday Inn for 23 years and many years at various other restaurants in the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. She truly enjoyed being a waitress, serving people, and making friends. Her laugh was infectious. Her greatest love was her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. They were the light of her life. Her favorite time was the holidays when everyone came to her house all day, lunch and dinner while story telling of memories. She loved to cook for those occasions and never had a holiday or even without her FAMOUS homemade noodles.
Janet never met a stranger and never held a grudge. She was a unique and loving person. She holds a special place in many people’s hearts.
Janet belonged to the North Terrace Church of Christ and her family extends their love and gratitude to her dear Church family especially: Becky, Kathy, Sandy and her Pastor Bill Meiage.
Janet leaves behind four sons, Jeffery A. Scheffler, Norman C. Scheffler, Richard (Julia) Scheffler and Robert (Kim) Scheffler; two daughters Sandra (James) Sims and Tamera Scheffler; sixteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren, whom she loved and never failed to send birthday or Christmas cards to faithfully; a sister Shirley Schaum, a niece, and a nephew.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her best friend and companion of 43 years Bob Zeigler, better known as “Pop Pop Bob” to all of the grandkids; two brothers Carl Jr. and Charles Scheffler.
Graveside services will be held 1:30 P.M. Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Zanesville Memorial Park with William L. Meiage officiating. There will be a Celebration of Life in early 2023 when all of her family can get together.
