Janis Ruth Plunkett, 80, of Zanesville, passed away at 10:50 P.M. on Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Emeritus at North Hills, where she lost a long battle with Dementia and Alzheimer's. She was born March 24, 1934, in Morehead, KY, a daughter of the late John and Flora Lewis Carter. She was a 1952 graduate of Morehead High School and was a member of First Baptist Church. In earlier years, she taught Sunday school, was a Cub Scout Den Mother, did charity work, and took care of elderly neighbors. She loved to read, watch movies, and cook. Her greatest joys were her family and her home. Surviving are her husband Donald Plunkett, whom she married August 29, 1955; two sons, Jeffrey of Pickerington, and Steve (Molly) of Fenton, MI; five grandchildren, Sean, Amy, and Zoe Plunkett of Michigan, Ross Plunkett of Midlothian, VA, and Nathaniel Drake of Lawrence, KS; a great grandson Max Plunkett of Virginia; a sister Nan (Bobby) Clark of Morehead, KY; a brother Don (Ginger) Carter of Lexington, KY; brother-in-law Frank (Sue) Plunkett of Canton, GA; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Patsy Brown; a brother-in- law Wilford Brown; and her parents-in-law Lee and Lela Plunkett. Friends and family may call from 4:00-6:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 4, 2015, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 5, 2014, with Rev. Reginald Martin officiating. She will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.
