Jay D. Close

Jay D. Close, 64, of Zanesville, died at 2:36 A.M. Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Genesis Hospital. He was born November 14, 1950 in Zanesville, a son of the late Howard E. "Pete" and Donna J. Smith Close. Jay had worked for Genesis Hospital as a Service Desk Analyst, was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He had two associate degrees in Business and computers, loved to camp, play cards and go to Vegas. Surviving are his wife, Deborah K. Smith Close, whom he married August 8, 1981, of the home; a son, Jared P. Close of Zanesville; a sister, Kimberly (Robert Glosser Sr.) Close-Hittle of Norwich; step-mother, Sheila Close of Zanesville; uncle and aunt, Gerald and Margaret Smith of Zanesville; father-in-law, Charles (Judith) Smith of Zanesville; sister-in-law, Debbie Smith of Zanesville; brother-in-law,, David (Yvonne) Smith of Crystal River, FL.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Diane and Jim Dietrick of Duncan Falls; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Doug and Kim Smith of Zanesville and his furry companion, Kasey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a uncle, Harold Close; maternal grandmother, Lena Bell Lutz; maternal grandfather, Dempsey L. Smith and paternal grandmother, Helen Ohm Close. Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Combs officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.
