Jean Patterson, 84, of Gratiot, died at 12:55 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2005 at Willow Haven Care Center. She was born April 30, 1920 at Hopewell, Ohio, a daughter of the late Bertram and Mary Lampton Porter. She was a homemaker, member of the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, member of the order of Eastern Star # 486 Brownsville Chapter, member of Gratiot Garden Club, an avid bowler and a member of the National Trails Flamettes. Surviving are her husband, Howard O. Patterson, whom she married August 24, 1940, two sons, Samuel (Ruth ) Patterson of Gratiot and Carroll (Patty) Patterson of Hopewell; eighteen grandchildren, thirty nine great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren; three brothers, Theodore (Loraine) Porter of Gratiot, William (Betty) Porter of Newark and Carl (Jeanne) Porter of Zanesville. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Patterson and three brothers, Robert , Paul and Tommy Porter. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2005 with Rev. Charles Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Fork Cemetery, Gratiot. Eastern Star services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
