Jeffrey Lynn Mahon, 65, of Trinway, went to be with the Lord after a long hard fought battle with lung cancer, at 8:50 A.M. on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Genesis Hospital, Zanesville. He was born September 18, 1955, in Zanesville, a son of the late James and Mary (Archer) Mahon. He was a 1973 graduate of Zanesville High School and MAJVS, and studied at the University of Hawaii Hi10. Jeff was a veteran of the United States Army of 10 ½ years serving during the Vietnam War and was employed with Auto Zone Distribution Center, Zanesville. He enjoyed his classic cars, 60’s & 70’s rock-n-roll, Buddy Holly, his fur kids, and was an avid Buckeye Fan. He loved his country, his kids, step-kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, and telling stories about his time in the service. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, bowling, bird watching, and taking long rides to look at scenery. Jeff had a great sense of humor that everyone that knew him will surely miss.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie J. (Starkey) Mahon; two sons, Tim (Brandi) Mahon and Rick Radcliff; two daughters, Heather (Donte) Leasure and Becky (Andre) Mahon; three step-children, Tina (Kurt) Starkey, Kerri (Brett) Bailey, and Julie (Scott) Bailey; five grandchildren, Tony, Ashley, Kerstin, David, and Rick Jr.; three step-grandchildren, Baylee, Sydney, and Brayden; three great-grandchildren, Cooper, Jayden, and Hazley; a brother, James (Sheri) Mahon; three sisters, Mary Ann Passwaters, Tina (Dan) Miller, and Crystal (Kevin) Mahon; many nieces and nephews; and his two beloved dogs, Buddy and Holly.
Friends and family may call from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE where funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 17, 2021 with Chaplain Tim Patton officiating. Following the funeral service, Full Military Honors will be accorded to him by the United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29. An inurnment at Greenwood Cemetery, Zanesville, will take place at a later date.
The family would like to thank his nurses Wendy and Amy for the wonderful care they had given Jeff. He had a special love for all of the daycare kids.
