Jerry K. Dankers Sr.

Jerry K. Dankers Sr., 62, of Zanesville, died at 3:55 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2007 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital after a courageous battle with lung cancer, surrounded by great neighbors and family. He was born August 26, 1944, in Bremerton, Washington, a son of the late John and Velma Morehouse Dankers. He was employed in Parts and Sales for Tansky Motors, was a United States Army veteran, a member of New Life Ministries in Hopewell, Ohio and was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan who loved fishing and Texas. Surviving are his wife, Delores Gebhart Dankers of the home; two daughters, Diana (Sean) Kenily of Nashport and Wendy (James) Weatherington of Fort Bragg, N.C.; a son, Jerry Dankers Jr. of Somerset; two step daughters, Diane Elmore of Columbus, Ohio and Lorraine Hooper of Coshocton, Ohio; a step son, Keith (Lora) Tilton of Zanesville; two brothers, John (Bonnie) Dankers of Kingston, Washington and Percy Dankers of Bremerton, Washington; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews in Washington and Texas. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the funeral home with the Rev. Scott Egbert officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. VFW George Selsam Post #1058 will hold full military rites at the gravesite. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3612 Maple Ave., Zanesville, Ohio, 43701.
