Jessie I (West) Mautz

Jessie I. Mautz, 89, of Zanesville, died at 9:06 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2011 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born July 29, 1921, in Rix Mills, Richhill Twp., a daughter of the late Dean and Georgia Buchanan West. She was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ. She served as checker and waitress at the former A&P Super Market and the Muskingum Livestock Barn. Gene and Jessie worked with the All Ohio State Fair Youth Choir for 8 years. Surviving are her husband of 65 years, William E. "Gene" Mautz, whom she married January 28, 1946, of the home; two daughters, Judy (Mick) Conner of Zanesville and Janice Mautz and her friend Steve Neff of Kettering, OH; two sons, Ronald Mautz of Zanesville and Richard (Jane) Mautz of Fresno, OH; a sister, Dorothy Arnold of Circleville, OH; four brothers, Ralph West of Lewis Center, OH, Audley (Mary Lou) West, Robert West and Kenneth (Barbara)West, all of Cumberland, OH; four grandchildren, Chris (Melanie) Phipps of New Concord, Jesse (Sandra) Mercer of Portland, OR, Chris Penny of Washington, D.C. and David (Kelley) Penny of Zanesville; four great grandchildren, Hanna Penny, Noah Polland, Adam and Meagan Phipps; an uncle, Charles West; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Edith Le Master, Edna West and Doris West; three brothers, Donald, Delmar and Richard West; two brothers-in-law, Norman Le Master and David Arnold; and two sisters-in-law, Betty West and Diane West. No calling hours will be observed. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2011 at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Mitch Reed officiating. Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville is entrusted with all arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel United Church of Christ, 105 S 7th St., Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
