Jo Ann (Hayes) Cox

March 1, 1932 — September 25, 2022

Zanesville

JoAnn Hayes Cox, daughter of the late Paul Morris and Gertrude Stewart Hayes, born March 1, 1932 at Salem, West Virginia.  She was a graduate of the class of 1949 of Lash High School and she was a graduate of Meredith Business College, previously working as a bookkeeper at the downtown Sears store, and at the Credit bureau.

She married the late Rodney D. Cox on November 3, 1956, was a member of Coburn United Methodist Church and Charter member of the VEP Sunday School class, a member of Edna Rae Circle, American Legion and VFW.  She enjoyed her family, friends, traveling, golfing, playing cards, and reading.  She also enjoyed flying with her late husband who was a private pilot for 30 years.

Surviving are her children Judith (John) Shuey, Andrew (Diane) Cox and Nancy (Kevin) Shumaker;  Grandchildren are Kelsey (Jonathan) Graham, Lindsey (Corben) McInnes , Morgan (Sully) Shriver, and Ryan Shuey; step granddaughter Jamie Shumaker and step grandson Jason (Shannon) Shumaker; great grandsons Luke Graham, Silas Shriver, Abraham Shriver, Mason McInnis; and great granddaughters Maddie Jo Graham and Rosemary Shriver.

In addition to her parents, she was pre ceded in death by her husband, Rodney D. Cox, who died December 3, 2014.

Friends and family may call from 4-7 P.M. Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE where services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 29, 2022 with Rev. Doris Flynn officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Rodney, at Zanesville Memorial Park, Zanesville.
