Joe L. Mattingly, 83, of Nashport, died at 7:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born August 20, 1929, in Zanesville, a son of the late T. Lemmert and Catherine Sebaugh Mattingly. He spent his days farming, and in 2008 was awarded Tree Farmer of the Year by the State of Ohio. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 505, and a former Muskingum County Township Trustee. Surviving are three sisters, Lois Stewart of Lakeland, FL, Ann (Leo) Burkhart of Zanesville, and Jean (Bernard) Scott of Tontogany, OH; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 P.M. & 6:00-8:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 4:00 P.M., on Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 144 N. 5th Street, Zanesville, with a Dominican Father as celebrant. He will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Mattingly Settlement, Nashport.
