John C. Scott, 84, of Philo, died at 10:32 P.M. on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. He was born June 22, 1937, in Reinersville, a son of the late Charles W. and Thelma F. (Cain) Scott. He was a United States Army Veteran and retired from Matthews Ford in Newark. John enjoyed car shows, classis cars, fishing, was a sports fan of OSU and the Reds and loved his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Lois (Ray) Scott, whom he married November 14, 1958; two children, Jeffrey (Susan) Scott and Amanda (John) Thomas; four grandchildren, Allison Scott, Rachael Scott, Aaliyah Inman, and Addison Thomas; a sister, Esther Arrants; a brother, Silas (Sue) Scott; and a sister-in-law, Cindy Carpenter. Special thanks and appreciation to Cindy for all of her help.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Scott; and three brothers, Jacob, Roger, and Grendel Scott.
Friends and family may call from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 4, 2022 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE where funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 5, 2022, with Mr. William L. Meaige officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville. Full Military Honors accorded to him by the United States Army, VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and American Legion Post 29.
