John Washington Doyle Sr., 87, of Zanesville, died at 7:25 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born July 18, 1923 in Moundsville, West Virginia to the late Benjamin and Lulu Belle Stotts Doyle. He was a self employed carpenter, a WWII Army Air Corp Veteran- Private 1st Class with 397 Bomb Squad. He was a member of Zanesville Bible Methodist and Eagles Lodge in Corning, Oh. Survived are three daughters, Pauline Harris, Brenda (Henry) Yester, and Kathy Doyle all of Zanesville; two sons, Gary (Susan) Wickham of Nashport and John (Dianna) Doyle Jr. of Zanesville; a sister, Anne Huey of Zanesville; a special granddaughter, Kim (Doug) Smith; 11 Grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and two friends, Annie Brown and Clarence Lamp. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Paynter Doyle who died April 7, 1996; a daughter, Evelyn Joan Wickham; two sisters, Pat Burris and Bertha Harding; and three brothers, Robert Doyle, Henry Doyle, and G.C. Doyle. Friends may call Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. till service time at 1:00 p.m. at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where the funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor William Blair II officiating. John will be laid to rest next to his wife, Virginia, at Duncan Falls Cemetery, Duncan Falls, Oh, where George Selsam Post #1058 will hold Military Rites.
