Dr. John P. "Jack" Feerick, 65, of Wilkes-Barre, PA, formerly of Zanesville, died at 3:30 P.M. on Friday, December 18, 2015 at his home. He was born August 15, 1950 in Queens, NY a son of Frances Ugis Feerick of Zanesville and the late James P. Feerick. Jack was a physician and retired in 2011 from the Veteran Administration of Wilke-Barre, PA. He was Catholic by faith. Jack earned his medical degree from Georgetown University, Washington DC. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served in the Iraq War. Jack was a first responder on 9-11 at the Pentagon, and received the Navy Commendation Medal for his Service Action. He was a member of the NRA and an avid collector of memorabilia from the Revolutionary War and 1812. He is survived by his mother, Frances Feerick of Zanesville; loving companion Rebecca Merchant, and her daughter Grazia, of Wilkes-Barre, PA; children, John P. Feerick of Columbus; Meaghan (Brian) Wehagen of Willoughby, Catherine Feerick of Cincinnati, OH, and Thomas P. Feerick of Columbus; two grandchildren, Catherine and Madaleine; a brother, James P. Feerick of Lansdale, PA; a sister, Erin (Ty J.) Dierkes of Zanesville; many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends and the mother of his children, Patricia Feerick. In addition to his father, James P. Feerick, who died July 28, 2006 he was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Feerick, Dec 25, 1977. Friends and family may call from 5-8 P.M. on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, December 28, 2015 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 144 N. 5th Street, Zanesville, OH 43701 with a Dominican Father officiating. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Zanesville, with full military honors being presented by the United States Navy in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post #1058 and American Legion Post #29.
