John J. Hellems

John J. Hellems, 62, of Zanesville, died at 8:05 P.M. Saturday, October 2, 20201 at his home. He was born August 19, 1959, a son of the late Carlton and Cecilia Scopelliti Hellems. John enjoyed shooting guns, working on cars and was a United States Army Veteran.

He is survived by a former wife, Debra Hellems; a son, Ian Hellems; a daughter, Heather (Jay Clift) Hickenbottom; four sisters, Charmaine (Michael) Ryan, Margaret Hellems-May, Camellia (Robert) Matters and Mary (Michael) Hayden; a brother, Carlton (Sue) Hellems Jr; a granddaughter, Bella Hickenbottom; and many nieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service will be held at Zanesville Memorial Park, where John will be laid to rest with full military honors accorded to him by the United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and American Legion Post 29.
