John E. Rickett

John E. (Jack) Rickett, 83, of Nashport, died at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at the Genesis Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was born August 12, 1923, in San Toy, Ohio, the son of the late Stanley and Daisy Brown Rickett. John was an Assistant Fire Chief for the Zanesville Fire Department, retiring in 1980. He was a longtime member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ, a Navy Veteran of WW II, a life member of the VFW George Selsam Post #1058, member of the American Legion Post 29, current president of the West Main St. Senior Center, member and Past Master of the Irville Masonic Lodge # 184, Past Monarch of Amrou Grotto # 45, member of the Charity Newsies, the Senior afternoon Bowling League at Sunrise,a member of the Ohio Country Western Music Association, honorary member of the Muskingum Country Music Hall of Fame and a member of the Thursday nite Golf League since 1971. Surviving are his wife, Lorrine Dixon Rickett, of the home; three daughters, Linda (John) Raymond of Mingo Junction, Christina (George) Barker of Nashport and Susan (Ralph) McNutt of Cumberland; three sons, George (Janet) Rickett of Norfolk, Va., Larry (Lisa) Rickett of Nashport and Roger Rickett of Zanesville; two sisters, Betty (Jerry) Neal and Louise (Larry) Nauman, both of Alabama and three brothers, Harry (Frances) Rickett and Ronald (Alice) Rickett, both of Alabama and Samuel (Beverly) Rickett of Zanesville; sixteen grandchildren and twenty five great-grand children. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Daryle Rickett, a sister Ruth Moye and two brothers, Robert and James Rickett. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2006 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday September 1, 2006 at the Immanuel United Church of Christ with the Rev. Mitch Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park. VFW George Selsam Post will hold military services at the gravesite. Irville Masonic Lodge will hold services at the funeral home at 6:00 pm Thursday and Amrou Grotto services will be at 5:45 pm Thursday.
