John W. "Jack" Wolfley , 79 of Zanesville, died at 5:28 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Autumn Healthcare in Zanesville. He was born March 12, 1929 in Indianapolis, Indiana a son of the late Edward L. And Mary E. Trees Wolfley. He graduated from Purdue University in 1956 with a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving at Fort Sill, Oklahoma with the rank of Corporal during the Korean Conflict. Jack worked for Armco Steel ( now AK Steel) as Assistant Superintendent in the Metallalurical department and retired in 1991. He was a member of Riverside Methodist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, Central Presbyterian Church in Zanesville, American Legion Post 29 in Zanesville, Armco Golf League, American Society for Metals and Y's Men's Club. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Alice Woerner Wolfley, whom he married December 29, 1950, of the home, a son, John Steven (Myra) Wolfley of Glendale, AZ; a daughter, Kathryn Jo ( T.L. Drake of Beavercreek, Ohio, four grandsons; five granddaughters;a great granddaughter; a granddaughter-in-law; a brother, Edward L. (Shirley) Wolfley of Noblesville, Indiana; a sister, Nancy C. ( John) Warren of Palmetto, Florida; sister-in-law, Lorraine Wolfley of Indianapolis, Indiana and brother-in-law, Charles House of Dublin, Georgia. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary E. House and his twin brother, Richard E. Wolfley. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the Central Presbyterian Church, 40 North 6th Street, Zanesville with Rev. Ray C. Morrison, Jr. Officiating . Entombment will follow at Washington Park East in Indianapolis, Indiana. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
